Basic Crochet Dish Cloth Pattern

This crochet dish cloth is the perfect addition to your cleaning supplies! It is a great use of scrap yarn and is environmentally friendly (just think of all the paper towel you will save!)

Crochet level: beginner

Materials:

  • Weight 4 yarn
  • 5mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

  • CH = Chain
  • SC = Single Crochet
  • DC = Double Crochet
  • ST = Stitch

Pattern Instructions

CH 16

Row 1 – SC in the second CH from the hook, SC across (15 stitches)

Row 2 – CH 1 and turn, SC across (15 stitches)

Repeat row 2 until the dish cloth measures 5″

Edging: CH 2, DC in next 14 stitches, 3 DC in same ST, repeat on the next 3 sides

Fasten off and weave in ends

That’s is! Now you have your first dish cloth!

Easter Headband – Pet

This pet headband is perfect for Easter!

Materials

  • 5mm crochet hook
  • 6mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Weight 5 yarn (two colours)

Abbreviations

CH – Chain

SC – Single Crochet

2SC – 2 Single Crochet in One Stitch

SCTOG – Single Crochet Two Together

ST – Stitch

SS – Slip Stitch

Bunny Ear – Make Two

Using colour 1 (blue) and a 5mm hook CH 4

Row 1 – in the second chain from the hook SC across (3 st)

Row 2 – CH 1, 2SC, SC, 2SC (5 ST)

Row 3 – CH 1, SC across (5 ST)

Row 4 – CH 1, 2SC, SC in next 3 ST, 2SC (7 ST)

Row 5 – CH 1, SC Across (7 ST)

Row 6 – CH 1, 2SC, SC in next 5 ST, 2SC (9 ST)

Row 7 – CH 1, SC across (9 ST)

Rows 8-13 – Repeat row 7

Row 14 – CH 1, SCTOG, SC in next 5 ST, SCTOG (7 ST)

Row 15 – CH 1, SC across (7 st)

Row 16 – CH 1, SCTOG, SC in next 3 ST, SCTOG (5 ST)

Row 17 – CH 1, SC across (5 ST)

Row 18 – CH 1, SCTOG, SC, SCTOG (3 ST)

Row 19 – CH 2, SC across (3 ST)

Fasten off. At this point your ear piece should look like this:

Attach colour 2 (brown)

CH 1, SC around, SS to first SC. Fasten off and leave a long tail

Your ear piece should now look like this:

Headband

Using colour 2 (brown) and a 6mm hook CH 6

Row 1 – in the second chain from the hook, SC across

Row 2 – CH 1, SC across in the BLO

Repeat row 2 until the headband fits around your pets head

Using a tapestry needle sew the two ends of the headband together

Attaching the Ears to the Headband

Pinch the top of the ear piece (the side with the tail)

Sew the top of the ear piece to the headband (sew the section circled in the below photo)

Sew the side of the ear to the headband (sew the part in the photo below)

Repeat with the other ear. I recommend trying it on your pet prior to sewing the second ear on to insure it will fit well!

30 Minute Crochet Mini Basket

This mini basket is perfect for beginners! It can be made in under 30 minutes and uses very little yarn! I love to make them with my scrap yarn!

Materials:

  • 8mm crochet hook
  • Weight 5 yarn

Special Instructions

  • For a sturdy basket I recommend using two strands of yarn

Key:
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
SS – Slip Stitch
ST – Stitches

Mini Basket Instructions:

1 – Magic Circle, CH 1, SC 8 in Magic Circle, SS to first SC

2 – CH 1, 2 HDC in each stitch around, SS to back loops of first HDC

3 – CH 1, *HDC in next stitch, 2 HDC in next stitch* repeat* around, SS to first HDC

4 – CH 1, *HDC in next 2 stitches, 2 HDC in next stitch* repeat * around, SS to first SS

5 – CH 1, *HDC into next 3 stitches, 2 HDC in next stitch* repeat * around, SS to first HDC

6 – CH 1, Working in front loops only DC around, SS to first DC

7-11 – Repeat round 6

12 – CH 1, HDC into the BLO around, SS to first HDC

Fasten off and leave a long tail. Weave the remaining yarn through the top row, tighten, fasten off
